About the Author
My writing explores motherhood, chronic illness, race and the choices women make about their lives. My work has appeared in The New York Times, CNN, Fortune, Business Insider, Ms. and more.
I’m working on my debut memoir about illness, inheritance and the women in my family. I’m represented by Danielle Chiotti at Upstart Crow Literary.
Alongside my writing, I’m the founding director of fellowships at The 19th News, a nonprofit national newsroom covering gender, politics, policy and power. I run the Frances Ellen Watkins Harper Fellowships for early- and mid-career HBCU alums in journalism.
Previously, I led the Rosalynn Carter Fellowships for Mental Health Journalism at The Carter Center and worked in local news as a reporter and digital leader.
